  1. I'm loving the 'Lakeshore Scarf '. It is quietly elegant and would look great in any soft , drapey yarn. ♥

  3. The Lakeshore is my favorite as well. Long and delicate at the same time, wonderful! I would knit it with a blue yarn, I would think. Perhaps even a sock yarn, to make it nice and warm.

Have a nice day, all! Ciao, Fleur (Fleurtje-Eliza on Ravelry)

  5. I think the Apple Basket Socks are so cute! They would be great to wear in the Fall at apple picking time or while presenting a freshly baked apple pie to a friend in need.

  8. Hi Mara! Just wanted to let you know I have been enjoying and knitting up a storm on your little stocking ornament pattern from Knit Picks! Love it! I am actually doing it on size 11 double pointed needles with worsted weight wool and am going to felt them all tomorrow! Thanks for the pattern.

I have a dog related question: I see that you have border collies. We lost our australian shepherd girl last year and are now, finally, looking for a replacement. Having grown up on a cattle ranch, I am prone to the herding breeds. My hubby and I are avid trail runners. We are considering either aussies, cattle dogs, or border collies. What is your opinion on intelligence, temperament, companionship, etc on them? It would be nice to find one who might enjoy a longer run with us and not get bored. Our aussie got bored! Thanks for your input and again, the great pattern!

  10. I'm so glad that you're enjoying the pattern HappyTrails!

In your situation, I'd look into finding a young adult rescue. I think the like/dislike of running will be more of a personal nature of the dog rather than the breed between those three breeds. With a young adult you'd have a good idea of if that paticular dog would really enjoy running. I know out of three dogs, I've had two that would jog along with me (while I'm biking) and one that doesn't like it - loves off leash romps but not structured ones. Of the two that would go along, my current youngster (now 3 y/o) is the one that loves it.

But remember that those smart dogs like to use their mind too, so I'd try to come up with some jobs, trick training, etc outside of running to help fulfill that need too.

I think that the Border Collie will be the most "in tune" to you of those three breeds and the one that really desires to figure out what you want. The other two are slightly more independent, but in a herding dog way (ie, still pretty much a velcro dog, that wants/needs something to do, just not to the same level as a BC)

    Hope that helps!
